IBC 2012 Amsterdam

IBC is an annual event for professionals engaged in the creation, management and delivery of entertainment and news content.

ibc_2012.pngIBC (International Broadcasting Convention) combines a conference with an exhibition that exhibits more than 1,300 leading suppliers of state of the art electronic media technology. It attracts more than 50.000 attendees from more than 160 countries.

We had a lot of meetings with really interesting people. The exhibition halls were really crowded and full of interesting companies with cool products.

It gave us a lot of inspiration and insights for Minoto Video. It confirmed for us again, that we are at the right track and the broadcasting industry is really shifting to online video solutions, faster than a lot of companies thought it would happen.

Substantively, some trends were noticeable like the increasingly higher resolutions for displays. There was an impressive demo of 8K Monitor recorded with a "Super Hi-Vision camera" 8K camera. Also NVIDIA announced Quadro K5000 for Mac Pro that supports 4K so that it can offer significant Premiere Pro performance boost.

Much attention was paid to set top boxes. Motorola launched 10 new set-top boxes. The set-tops differ in support for IPTV services, with the different options accounting for variations in storage capacity and processing power. Some of the boxes are Microsoft Mediaroom branded and are distinguished by their differences in HDD capacity, wireless performance and feature set. Other cable boxes offer cost-effective simplicity and DVR capability.

It was a very successful visit. We look forward to visit Dmexco tomorrow.
